Nominating Committee NAACP #4013
As the Chair of the Nominating Committee, I am excited to announce that the nomination period for our upcoming Board election of officers and at-large members of the executive committee is now open! We encourage you to consider nominating fellow members who embody our shared values and are eager to serve and uplift our organization. Your participation in this process helps ensure that our leadership reflects the passion, commitment, and vision of our NAACP community.
On October 15 , 2024 , there will be a report of the Nominating Committee, receipt of Nominations by Petition, and election of the Election Supervisory Committee. All members whose memberships are current as of May 1st of the election year, who’s memberships have remained continuous throughout the election process, and who live and/or work within the unit’s jurisdiction, may be nominated for office or as an at-large member of the Executive Committee.
The Nominating Committee will present a written report at the October General Membership meeting. This report will include the names of individuals nominated to fill the current Branch offices. The Committee will nominate only one candidate for each office, and for the Executive Committee at-large, between 10 and 24 candidates will be nominated.
Nomination Guidelines:
One Position Per Member: A member may only be nominated for one position during the election. For example, a candidate may not simultaneously run for an officer position and an at-large seat on the Executive Committee.
Consent Form Requirement: A nominee does not need to be present at the time of nomination, provided that their signed consent form is submitted when their nomination is made. The nominee must also meet the membership qualifications as outlined earlier. Consent form is linked here and attached and must be submitted to Ana Clymer by October 9, 12:00 PM (noon) for the Nominating Committee to review and include in the report for Oct. 15. Submission can be made through the following ways:
Drop off to the NAACP office (under the office door) at 601 2nd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401.
Scan or take a picture of consent form and email or text to: [email protected]/ (319)310-0675
Bring the original nomination form to the Oct. 15, 2024 meeting if you have chosen to scan or take a picture.
Withdrawal of Nomination: Any member who has been properly nominated may withdraw from the election by submitting a formal letter to the Chairman of the Election Supervisory Committee. This request must be received in time to prevent the printing of their name on the ballot.
Consent Form Submission: Each nominee must present a signed consent form at the time of nomination. Forms cannot be accepted after nominations for other positions have closed or after the Nominating Meeting.
Additional Requirements:
Certification by the Secretary: For each candidate, the Secretary must verify that at least three members who signed the petition are in good standing, that the nominee is a member in good standing, and that the consent form was properly submitted at the time of nomination.
Member Verification: If a nominee’s name cannot be found on the Branch roster and they are unable to provide proof of good standing, their nomination will not be accepted.
Petition Validity: If the Secretary is unable to verify the standing of three members who signed the petition, and no proof is provided, the petition will be nullified.
Consent Form: No member can be nominated without an original signed consent form. Can be turned in advance (scan, email, dropped off) or on Oct. 15 at the meeting.
We encourage you to carefully consider the candidates you wish to nominate and submit all required documentation to ensure a smooth and efficient nomination process. Questions or concerns can be addressed to [email protected] or (319) 310-0675.
Thank you for your commitment to ensuring the continued leadership and success of our NAACP Branch #4013.
